Step into the African American Heritage Museum of Southern New Jersey and explore the rich history, culture, and art of African Americans in South Jersey and beyond. Founded by Ralph E. Hunter, Sr., the museum grew from his personal collection of cultural treasures, some discovered in surprising places. What started as a private “apartment museum” became a public space in 2002, and today AAHMSNJ continues to educate, inspire, and spark conversations about the African American experience.
